Tough Lady

(Myrna Bituin with husband Jose Bituin)

If there is one entrepreneur who can catch a peso in thin air, that would be Myrna Bituin, owner and founder of Betis Crafts. For those who are not familiar with Betis Crafts, it is one of the most-successful companies in furniture design and manufacturing. Betis Crafts is now exporting to Europe and other parts of the globe with their state-of-the-art designs.

Myrna Bituin started the business with his husband, Jose Bituin. From small handy crafts, the business grew in years given their ingenuity, perseverance and resourcefulness.

In one of her lectures, Bituin said she was trained under Henry Sy during the early years of SM Prime Holdings. As an employee, she learned to be punctual, industrious and professional in her job. No extra time for personal affairs but focused in work. Every minute counted. If their time in is 8:00 a.m., they go to work at 7:30 a.m. That is the rule. Be early. Be diligent. Be honest. And be driven.

And as a successful entrepreneur now, Bituin said the clients are partners, and not just customers. You work with them even in the roughest of times. They will help you sail smoothly amid the crisis. So work well with them and threat them as a family. And before I forget, she said one of her secrets in business is to be honest and fair and God will do the rest.

Myrna Bituin is an awarded and revered entrepreneur in Pampanga. She is one of the many faces of success stories in business. Hers is another story of honesty, sincerity and responsibility to our fellowmen, even if they are part of the commercial clientele.
